Shipping to and from Europe

General guidance only. Customs and tax rules change, and the requirements for your shipment depend on the goods, their value and the destination.

EU VAT and IOSS

Since July 2021, VAT applies to all commercial goods imported into the EU. For lower-value consignments sold to consumers, sellers may collect VAT at checkout through the Import One-Stop Shop (IOSS).

Non-EU countries

Switzerland, Norway and other non-EU European countries have their own customs and tax rules, even where they are close trading partners.

Documentation

Shipments of goods entering or leaving the EU need a commercial invoice and, where available, an IOSS or EORI number.
